SYNOPSIS

What could possibly go wrong when the Brain, the Beauty, the Criminal, the Athlete & the Outcast of Bayview High, by some strange coincidence, all ends up in detention together, right? Well, thatโ€™s assumed, until one student drops dead in the middle of the session. What happened in the room on that fateful afternoon? Why were they seemingly put there on purpose? And most importantly, who is the killer?

As the media & police starts pointing accusing fingers & digging up shocking trails of clues, the four suspects have no choice but to join forces & embark on a dangerous journey to find out the real killer, before itโ€™s all too late.

But with each hoarding dark secrets of their ownโ€”or else, solid motives to silence the only person who couldโ€™ve revealed themโ€”it brings forth the question of, how far they could possibly venture to protect themselves. If it isnโ€™t one of them, who else could it be? And, if it really is, which one of them is lying?

REVIEW

One thing I immensely enjoyed was the unexpected plot twists that kept my eyes glued to the pages. I never knew what to expect from each of the characters or the development of the case, which created the perfect atmosphere of suspense.

The author started off with solid stereotypes, giving them actual titles for the roles they played on campus, as if preparing the readers for what awaited. But as I gradually started to understand their backstories, personalities & the complicated emotions they underwent as the investigation carried on, I found myself really anticipating the final reveal โ€” whoever could the killer actually be?

Overall, a simple and well-developed YA thriller/murder mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat, that can most definitely be finished in one single sitting.
