SYNOPSIS
Upon being uprooted from all sheโs ever known, and forced to move into a slightly tattered apartment house in the middle of nowhere, Coraline is bewildered by her excruciatingly boring & miserable lifeโwith both her parents busy at work, & having nothing to do but to wander around all day.
That is, until Coraline sets out on a quest to count all the windows & doors of the familyโs new house. She locates twenty-one windows & fourteen doors in total, the last door locked, and upon being opened, led to a solidly bricked wall.
Life resumes its dragging footsteps, until one night, Coraline opens the door again to find the bricks gone, and in its place, a dark spiraling tunnel. Beyond that door, she discovers a duplicated world, the exact same as the one sheโs from, only with better tasting dinners, flying toys & talking animals, caring parents with buttons for eyes, and everything more exciting & fascinating. Itโs like a dream-come-true! But, is everything really as simple and perfect as it seems?

REVIEW
Have you read this book? If so, have you also seen the movie? Iโve actually been told that they were created around the same time, tho the movie is more often known as a later adaption based on the book. Itโs said that Neil Gaiman gave the movie producers a brief outline of his idea for the story, before actually getting started on the book. I found this fact (tho not proven) quite fascinating since I very seldom come across books & movies to be produced separately. Anyways.
This is a short but fascinating story that continuously kept me on the edge of my seat. It was slightly creepy & spooky, but also with a touch of mystery & adventure. Overall, I loved the messages the author delivered throughout the book, and of course, the introduction to one of my favorite heroine characters ever, Coraline.
