REVIEW
If you picked up this book with a mere expectation of the glamorous backstory of a bombshell starlet, with all the juicy Hollywood gossip & scandalous love affairs, then youโd better drop it & buy yourself a whole box of tissues before you begin. Yes, youโre in danger of bawling your eyes out.
This is more than a historical romance, a groundbreaking tale surrounding the perception of sexuality, self-discovery, a womenโs ambition, courage and strength in the face of the suffocating stereotypes and harsh unspoken rules society chained people into following. Reading it is like a stab to the heart, like seeing the world in a brand new perspectiveโunderstanding what it means to love, to forgive, and to keep going on despite anything and everything.
This is my 2nd Taylor Jenkins Reid book & I can only say sheโs absolutely amazing. I love how she brings such massive topics into discussion, delivering her messages & perspectives without overwhelming the reader, while still keeping them on the very edge of their seats. Her stories always go emotionally deep & stays in my heart & mind for a long time even after finishing the book.
